Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Chief Operations Officer Dr. Steven Hairston has been named the 2014-2015 alumnus of the year at Virginia Union University.

“It was a humbling experience to know that I had been selected for this honor,” Hairston said.

Hairston earned his Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) degree in from Virginia Union in sociology in 1985. He has served in many capacities in higher education at Virginia Union University. He serves as an elected Member-at-Large to the Executive Board of the Virginia Union University National Alumni Association, Inc. (VUUNAA). He is also a charter member of the North Carolina Chapter of the VUUNAA and serves as the chapter’s Vice-President.
