Today, Saint Augustine’s University signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This alliance signifies a joint effort by SAU and SBA to promote small business through education and community outreach. Both entities will work closer together to ensure underserved small business interests are adequately addressed in the area.

“I want to commend Dr. Suber who is truly on the cutting edge,” said Ms. Lynn Douthett, district director, United States Small Business Administration. “This agreement supports her vision of creating leaders.”

The memorandum is part of SBA’s effort to enter into agreements with historically black colleges and universities.

“At Saint Augustine’s University, we are committed to developing change agents and leaders positioned to compete in a global society,” said Dr. Dianne Boardley Suber, president of Saint Augustine’s University. “Supporting and fueling the dreams of young entrepreneurs supports that vision.”

According to Dr. F. Perna Carter, dean of SAU’s School of Business and Technology, the alliance will provide students with real world opportunities.

“The School of Business and Technology is very excited about the signing of the strategic alliance between Saint Augustine’s University and the U. S. Small Business Administration,” Carter said. “As the Dean, I look forward to working with the SBA and all of the partners in the surrounding area to develop real world/real work opportunities for our students. This partnership will afford the students the opportunities to meet and interact with young, women, and minority entrepreneurs that can help them make their individual and collective mark in the global society.”
